Presentation on Receptor Coatings for the Manufacture & Personalization of Cards
Presented by Josef Feldman at the ICMA Annual Card Manufacturing Expo in Hollywood, Florida
Cards have traditionally been made out of PVC and other synthetic polymers. There is a current movement to change to materials with renewable resources. Biobased polymers, such as PLA have become readily available. Paper is back in vogue. Recycled materials are becoming widely available. Can these new materials work with current manufacturing processes? Can they be personalized with dye diffusion, thermal transfer, inkjet, laser and xerography?
In this paper we will review the use of receptor coatings as a bridge which allows current manufacturing equipment and processes to be used with the new materials
